USA: CDC Worried About E-Cigarette Advertising!

In the United States, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has found a link between advertising and the popularity of the e-cigarette. According to them, high exposure to vape ads would increase the likelihood of a young person falling into it.

102050038-RTR48F1I.530x298The proposed results are based on a questionnaire answered by 22.000 students middle and high schools in the United States. The answers were collected in 2014 but they would show a clear correlation between the vape and the volume of advertising found online, in the press, on television and in stores.

The CDC has expressed some concerns about the findings. The director Tom Frieden argues that children should not have access to everything type of tobacco, including e-cigarettes. He also finds that e-cigarette marketing " looks strangely like the one used to sell tobacco for decades", Focusing on" sex, independence and rebellion.". These advertisements that we usually see for cigarettes are now very different due to strict US government regulations. For Frieden, the “unrestricted marketingWhich e-cigarette professionals are currently taking advantage of could easily "spoil decades of progress in preventing tobacco use among young people." "

However, the situation could change if the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) which currently regulates cigarettes and other tobacco products is allowed to have e-cigarettes under its authority.
