VAPEXPO: A look back at the Lille 2018 edition of the e-cigarette fair!

This is another edition of the Vapexpo which has just ended in Lille after three days of fun and meetings of all kinds. Obviously, the editorial staff of Vapoteurs.net was on hand to cover the event and present it to you from the inside. It is therefore with great pleasure that we offer you a great debriefing on this first edition of the ch'nord which took place in Lille. How was the organization ? Was there a big attendance? ? What was the atmosphere of this Lille edition ?

VAPEXPO LILLE 2018: A LITTLE SPRING WALK IN THE CH'NORD!

The organizers of Vapexpo had therefore chosen the north of France and more particularly the city of Lille to host this last show, but was it a good idea? Located in the heart of the Lille Metropolis, the Grand Palais de Lille was rather accessible by various public transport (metro, train, plane car). Unlike the city of Lyon which is rather "central" on the map of France, Lille is a choice which has not made travel easier for people living in the south of the country.

If the Grand Palais de Lille presented itself as an ideal choice to host the edition of Vapexpo, we regret the almost surprising absence of restaurants, bars or even hotels in the surrounding area. The more curious could still go for a walk in the city center (15-20 minutes on foot) to enjoy the architecture and what the capital of northern France had to offer.

Clearly, if the choice of Lille and the Grand Palais was interesting in terms of area and culture, we regret the "desert" side of the surroundings close to the show. Obviously, we would like to point out that the organization of Vapexpo is in no way responsible for this fact. This nevertheless allowed vapers to discover Lille and its warm and welcoming population.

FEEDBACK ON THE ORGANIZATION OF VAPEXPO LILLE

As with all Vapexpo, we had to show a little patience on the first day before being able to come back and enjoy the many stands. The writing of Vapoteurs.net and Vapelier.com Arrived at the first hour and we had to wait 10 minutes to enter the lounge.

After an opening around 10:10 am, the public was finally able to return, there were still between 300 and 400 people ready to sink into the mist. The “bad surprise” for many vapers was the ban on vaping in the main hall before the entrance to the Vapexpo. If some did not understand why security was stepped up, we recall that access to this famous main hall was accessible to all (even children or non-visitors) and that as a public place it was prohibited to use electronic cigarettes in this space.

When entering this famous main hall, it was possible to store coats or things in a cloakroom so as not to succumb to the heat of a misty lounge. The reception of the cloakroom staff was there (perhaps this famous warm welcome from the ch'nord). Once in the hall dedicated to the Vapexpo, we were greeted by smiling hostesses with bags containing advertising, small samples and a guide to the show.

Regarding the hall, all the amenities were there (toilets, frequent bins ..), the Vapexpo offered a Snack / Bar to eat which was greatly appreciated by visitors even if we regret the absence of a "Food Truck" outside the living room. As a visitor, we were able to appreciate the clever layout with room to move around and many stands to visit. The ceiling of the hall that hosted the Vapexpo was quite high, so the event was less foggy than usual.

As in previous editions, it was possible to have your hair or beard cut in a dedicated stand. Some stalls also offered free drinks and bottled water to visitors. For fans of the Vapexpo, it was even possible to buy t-shirts, mugs or caps for the event!

Although it was smaller than the one in Paris, the Vapexpo Lille was pleasant and important thing, it was possible to move around and enjoy each stand without ending up crushed. The feeling of this show is a bit special… As a visitor, we had the impression of being in a warm and friendly event far from the war machine that the Parisian show represents. The exhibitors present seemed generally satisfied with this Lille edition even if some still regretted that the opening to the general public took precedence over the “professional” side. A priori the criticism has been heard because the next Parisian Vapexpo will have two days dedicated to professionals.

A THREE-DAY REGIONAL FAIR ... A WINNING CHOICE?

This last edition of Vapexpo in Lille therefore took place over three days, two of which were for individuals. The organization of Vapexpo had therefore made a different choice compared to the Lyon show by clearly giving priority to the general public. Was this choice a winner? The figures are not available at the time of this writing, it is not easy to say but we noticed that over the three days, the show was often sparse.

Steam that gradually settles in the Grand Palais, music (sometimes too loud at some exhibitors), bright and decorated stands, visitors who share their passions, we are at Vapexpo! As with every edition, the opening was eventful with several hundred people waiting to return. However, this first day was not crazy either and the visitors present were able to circulate without too much problem through the show. With the arrival of the Belgian population, professionals and many visitors, Sunday was a foggy day! The sign of a good Vapexpo is when you can no longer see the back of the show and this was the case on the second day.

If the “regional” editions are less “crazy” than the Parisian editions, we will still have seen people disguised for the occasion (the Bear from “Fuu”, the cloud from Eliquid-France…), vapers with non-standard gear as well as tricks and power-vaping specialists. For the first time, there were no conferences but a health center was present to answer many questions from visitors.

As with each edition, we were able to take advantage of the aesthetics of a good part of the exhibition stands even if there were no major novelties, most of the exhibitors probably preferring to keep surprises for the Parisian edition of the month of 'October. In the end, we will retain the stand of Cloud Vapor with its magical jungle, that of the Fluid mechanics with its retro side, the space of " Sunny Smoker With its many chesterfield sofas and booth Puf Puf Custom Mods with his “Star Wars” creations that made more than one drool! But there is always one stand that stands out and this time it's that of Maousse Lab / Jin & Juice with its rows of e-liquids that was constantly stormed.

LOTS OF E-LIQUIDS BUT ALSO MATERIAL!

This is still the problem at Vapexpo even if the electronic cigarette fair is only a reflection of the current market. The Lille show had 70% of e-liquids for about 30% of material. On the material side, we were still able to appreciate the presence of many wholesalers, many Chinese manufacturers (Vaporesso, Geekvape, Innokin, Vaptio…) But also modders with a specially dedicated gallery. But let's not forget, e-liquid is the sinews of war in the vaping market and as always the manufacturers were there (Vincent dans les vapes, Alfaliquid, Dlice, V'ape, Twelve Monkeys, Bordo2, Roykin, Origa …).

But what were the good surprises of this Vapexpo?

Listed e-liquid we hold  :

- News from Jin & Juice / Maousse Lab (The Big Strawberry / The Jin Custard / The Big Juice ...)
- The new “Nutamax” e-liquid by Flavor Power
- "Origa" e-liquids by Kumulus Vape
- The “Little Cloud” range by Roykin
- The new “Furiosa Eggz” e-liquids from Vape 47
- The new e-liquids from Vape Institute

Obviously this list is not exhaustive and many other creations were surprising as the new juices Dinner Lady". The choice was vast and many new liquidiers are still arriving on the market!

Hardware side we hold :

- The new " My Blu Which was presented by Von Erl, Fontem Ventures and The Distiller
- Final version " Enovap really bluffing!
- The "Star Wars" creations of Puf Puf Custom Mods
- The many creations of the modders gallery
- Boxes and tubes of Titanide

CONCLUSION ON THIS EDITION OF VAPEXPO LILLE 2018

According to our editorial staff, this edition of Vapexpo Lille was globally successful. Thanks to this choice of location, many vapers from the north of France and Belgium were able to take advantage for the first time of an international electronic cigarette fair. The regional edition often gives indications on what will happen for the Parisian edition and there is reason to be confident! This Lille Vapexpo was less imposing, more intimate and warm and it was a real pleasure to have this Vapexpo experience in a more "family" format. It remains for us to know where the next regional edition will take place: Rennes? Marseille? Strasbourg? Bordeaux? Place your bets !
