CANADA: COUNCIL OF PHYSICIANS GOES AGAINST VAPOTAGE


The Council of Medical Officers of Health issues an alert about the dangers of vaping among young people. In a letter, all the chief physicians of the provinces and territories believe that young people, parents and governments must be made aware of the need to curb this growing phenomenon. BELGIUM: SMOKING BY CAR, PROHIBITIONS ARE MULTIPLE


While it is now forbidden in Flanders to smoke in the car in the presence of a minor, Wallonia has adopted a decree to this effect. And the fines are heavy for violators! The measure is applicable in Flandre since February: it is forbidden to smoke in the car in the presence of children under the age of 16, and this applies to both regular and electronic cigarettes. FRANCE: INCREASED TAXES ON TOBACCO RAISE BIG TO THE STATE!


In 2018, an additional 900 million euros entered state coffers thanks to tobacco, almost twice as much as expected. The drop in sales was noticeable but a little less sharp than expected. (See article)
