South Australia cracks down on illegal tobacco and vape sales

The South Australian government is preparing legislation to close establishments suspected of selling illegal tobacco and e-cigarettesThe bill would allow the Minister of Consumer Affairs and Business to order the closure of premises for an initial period of 72 hours, extendable up to six months.

Violators risk fines of up to $1,1 million for companies and $700 for individuals.

The move follows the seizure of $1 million worth of illicit goods, but more efforts are needed to counter the thriving black market.
