The local government of Wales (Western UK) today introduced a bill to ban the use of electronic cigarettes in closed or covered public places, as well as in the workplace. The Welsh executive thus intends to model the legislation governing conventional cigarettes.
If the text is adopted by the Parliament of Cardiff, Wales would become, by the end of 2016 or during 2017, the first region of the United Kingdom to impose such restrictions.
The aim is to avoid a " Re-normalization Of tobacco use via the electronic cigarette, presented as a " catwalks Towards traditional cigarettes, said Mark Drakeford, who said tobacco killed 5.450 people last year in Wales.
The United Kingdom has about 2,6 millions of vapers.
In Europe, several countries, such as Portugal or Belgium, have adopted measures to ban them in public places.
