ITALY: Pr Polosa reminds that "vaping does not damage the lungs"

In Italy, Prof. Riccardo Polosa tackles an American study on vaping which, according to him, overlooks several important factors. As a reminder, this study stated that electronic cigarettes could cause certain lung diseases.

“THE USE OF THE E-CIGARETTE DOES NOT CREATE LONG-TERM RISKS! "

Through the Prof. Riccardo Polosa, director of the Institute of Internal Medicine and Clinical Immunology of the University of Catania, the Liaf (Lega Italiana Antifumo) responded to published research on the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.

According to this American research, vaping would trigger an immune response that can lead to inflammation of the respiratory tract. The widespread concerns based on these findings, however, were not endorsed by the International Scientific Committee on Vaping led by Riccardo Polosa.

He also declares: " This is research of poor methodological quality that tends to focus on risks with little or no impact on human health without really considering the potential benefits of vaping. This American study does not take into account several important factors. »

Riccardo Polosa concludes by recalling that While the use of electronic cigarettes does not interfere with lung activity, it does not even create long-term risks.  »
