SOCIETY: The "puff" e-cigarette is "a means of recruiting non-smokers"

Even though the fight against smoking seems far from over, attacks and criticisms today crystallize around a single phenomenon: the famous "Puff", a very fashionable disposable e-cigarette. According to CNCT (National Committee Against Smoking), this product " is presented as a means of withdrawal for smokers, whereas it is a means of recruiting non-smokers"

 


THE CNCT, A STRONG HATE AGAINST VAPING!


A few days before Month without tobacco, CNCT (National Committee Against Smoking) prefers to focus its attacks on vaping and more specifically on the “puff” phenomenon. In an interview with our colleagues from Vozer.fr, Amelie Eschenbrenner, in charge of communication at the CNCT, is completely unleashed on a product that she seems to hate even more than cigarettes:

« People are smoking fewer cigarettes, as a result tobacco sales are falling. The nicotine industry needs new consumers, which it finds among young and very young people. That's why the puff exists. It is presented as a means of weaning for smokers, whereas it is a means of recruiting non-smokers. It is an object of reconquest. »

And if the problem only came from the "puff" phenomenon which also harms the vaping sector, we would be able to understand it, unfortunately this is obviously not enough for the CNCT communication officer.

How is it still possible today to make such a stupid and unfounded parallel between vaping and smoking? Although the "puff" is not the best invention of the vaping industry, it is totally mind-blowing to say that " breathe 600 puffs " correspond to " 2 packets of cigarettes“. It is totally false and it is even an extremely dangerous speech just a few days away from Tobacco Free Month.

« Young people become addicted to nicotine more easily than adults and can quickly switch to more dangerous nicotine products such as tobacco. And often it's not the 0% nicotine puffs that are bought. Says Amelie Eschenbrenner.

We obviously remain circumspect in the face of such a discourse which has not been proven by any study to date. This famous interview being taken from an article sponsored by the Hauts de France ARS, we are more and more worried to see the communication that will be proposed for this new edition of the month without tobacco.
