While in France, the transposition of the European directive on tobacco has already taken place, it is the turn of the United Kingdom to put in place this week, the new laws governing vaping products.
THE 20 MAY, A NEW REGULATION IN THE UNITED KINGDOM
From May 20, 2016, it is therefore the new regulations on tobacco products which will come into force and will present a number of laws concerning the sale of electronic cigarettes. These changes in the law will apply to anyone who manufactures or sells electronic cigarettes and e-liquids including those who sell on the internet.
So what will change for the UK vape industry? The new regulations are broken down into 7 points :
- The limitation of tanks (or tanks) of atomizers to a capacity not exceeding 2 ml.
- Limiting the maximum volume of e-liquid bottles to 10 ml.
- Limitation of e-liquids to a nicotine content not exceeding 20 mg / ml.
- Obligation to have child safety on all products containing nicotine
- Prohibition on the use of certain products such as coloring agents, caffeine and taurine.
- Implementation of new labeling and warning requirements.
- Obligation to notify vaping products (e-cigarettes and e-liquids) for sale.
WHAT IMPACT ON THE UK VAPE INDUSTRY?
If in France, it was difficult to accept these new regulations, it is clear that the vaping industry has adapted rather well to the situation by bypassing the various obligations (nicotine booster) or by taking the time to come into compliance. By postponing the implementation of its regulations until May 20, 2017, the British vaping industry will therefore have had time to scrutinize its neighbors and to get established.
