« AN EFFORT FOR THE FIGHT AGAINST TOBACCO«
While a report from the health service indicated that cigarette use among high school students had increased significantly since 2014, the governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill banning the use of e-cigarettes in all public and private schools in New York State.
With this choice, the governor's office also issued a statement:
«The use of nicotine in any form causes adverse effects in adolescents and this measure will end a dangerous loophole that allowed the use of e-cigarettes in New York schools. This measure will strengthen the administration's efforts in tackling teenage smoking in all its forms and help make New York a stronger and healthier city for all. "
If the state of New York considers any use of nicotine by adolescents to be harmful, some voices are raised to declare that there is currently no evidence that electronic cigarettes are a threat to public health.
Still, New York State is quick to assert that nicotine exposure can be addictive in adolescents and even damage their brains.
