UNITED STATES: Long-term vapofumor condition study

In the United States, researchers from Moffitt Cancer Center spear the "EASE" project (Evaluation of cigarettes and e-cigarettes). The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of the condition of vapers over the long term. For this the study will extend over the next two years and will require 2500 vapofumers.

moffitt_2CAN THE E-CIGARETTE BE THE SPARK THAT WILL HELP SMOKERS GET OUT?

« People are trying every possible way to get rid of the cigarette“Says Bill Henry who smoked most of his life.

«I smoked since I was 19“Said Henry. " And difficult is not the appropriate word, I would say practically impossible. I have tried to quit smoking like many other people over and over again. »

Can the e-cigarette be the spark that will help smokers get by? This is exactly what the Moffitt researchers want to know. " We have learned from many people who have used various substances including heroin that nicotine is cited as being the most difficult to quit.  Said Vani Nath Simmons of the Moffitt Cancer Center.

Let's be clear, this study is not about the safety of e-cigarettes. Rather, it is intended to observe the behavior of people consuming both e-cigarettes and conventional cigarettes and to monitor their changes in use over time.

«We don't know if e-cigarettes are safe. We can say that it is very unlikely that they are as harmful as regular cigarettes as there is no exposure to tar and various carcinogenic chemicals. Simmons said.

« We want to learn more, do e-cigarettes really help people quit smoking? Or, do these people end up using both products over time? »

With this new study, The Moffitt Cancer Center hopes to answer these few questions.
