CANADA: A college fires 6 students following e-cigarette trafficking ...

According to some Canadian journalists, the famous vaping "epidemic" would be "contaminating" Quebec ... The reason for this reflection? The expulsion of 6 secondary 2 to 4 students from Laval Citizen College for reselling e-cigarettes in the establishment.

THE CONCERN OF "CONTAMINATION" IN QUEBEC!

After many warnings, the Laval Citizen College expelled 6 students from Secondary 2 to 4 for selling e-cigarettes at school.

Students used prepaid credit cards to buy these e-cigarettes over the internet and resell them at a high price according to information obtained by The Press. The school noticed their merry-go-round thanks to tracking dogs and by scanning the social networks of dealers. The management of the establishment tried on several occasions to intervene to put an end to the trafficking, the law however prohibiting the sale of these products to under 18 years.

In Canada, the proportion of young people who claimed to have used these last 30 days climbed 74% between 2017 and 2018 according to figures from the University of Waterloo. The Quebec Coalition for Tobacco Control blames the marketing of products that make them very attractive to young people.

« We make a whole generation of young people addicted to these products (…) They look like USB sticks flavored with mint and vanilla with very high doses of nicotine. It doesn't take a lot of uses to become addicted. »Declares Flory Doucas, pp. Quebec Coalition for Tobacco Control. She adds " We are facing a crisis. In my opinion, it is not normal that manufacturers are allowed to promote on the internet and that we are surprised that young people are promoting it themselves on social networks. ".
