UNITED STATES: FDA could ban "fruity" flavors for e-cigarettes

In the United States, the vaping market could take a serious hit. Indeed, the FDA is seriously considering regulating “fruity” flavors for electronic cigarettes. The reason is simple: That electronic cigarettes become less accessible to adolescents!

TOWARDS A BAN ON MENTHOL CIGARETTES AND "FRUIT" E-LIQUIDS

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has just taken a first step towards the implementation of regulations concerning the role that flavors, including menthol, can play in attracting the public. According to the FDA, while flavors like creme brulee or fruit can help smokers quit smoking, they can also appeal to teens and young adults.

The agency is therefore considering banning or restricting menthol in cigarettes and fruity flavors for electronic cigarettes. In a recent press release, Scott Gottlieb, the FDA commissioner said, " No children should use tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes »Adding« At the same time, we are aware that certain flavors can help addicted smokers to adopt potentially less harmful tools containing nicotine."

The FDA is also questioning a restriction on advertising for flavored products. Currently, there are no such regulations for electronic cigarettes, while traditional cigarettes are heavily regulated.

If Scott Gottlieb does not hesitate to say that vaping remains less harmful than smoking, he wants the FDA to continue to fight against this trend of electronic cigarettes among young people (with Juul for example). He declares " The fact that a child gets into a long-term addiction that could ultimately lead to his or her death is unacceptable And adds " We must do everything we can to prevent children from becoming addicted to nicotine.«
