ICELAND: An airplane lands urgently after an e-cigarette ignites.

A few days ago, a plane bound for Poland had to land urgently in Keflavík in Iceland. In question, the conflagration of an electronic cigarette which would have triggered the fire alarm.

A few days ago, response units in southwest Iceland were put on high alert after a fire alarm was triggered on board a commercial aircraft shortly after takeoff. This plane bound for Poland had to turn back and land urgently in Keflavík.

While the maximum alert is triggered and the emergency services expect a disaster, it is ultimately a simple e-cigarette that is involved. According to Ólafur Helgi Kjartansson, the police chief of southwest Iceland, an e-cigarette allegedly caught fire in a luggage rack above the passengers.

In the end, among the 147 passengers of the flight of the Hungarian company Wizz Air no injuries are to be deplored. They all spent the night in hotels in southern Iceland.
